Performance program apå MMCA, Changdong Seoul, 2024  med et foredrag om værdien af vores fordøjelsers arbejdskraft af Ulla Hvejsel, og en musikalsk fortolkning af emnet af  Vandaal Music.

Et performanceprogram der begyndte med, at jeg  introducerede værdien af ​​lort, med et citat af den koreanske forfatter Park Wan-Suh. Hun forklarer nemlig, hvordan afføring og tis var en handelsvare i det landlige Korea i 1930’erne.

Dette citat blev så udgangspunktet for at sætte gang i en produktion af værdifuldt pis og lort inde i publikums kroppe: Alle blev tilbudt en lille drink og servering, som så ville blive omdannet til lorte og tisseværdi i løbet af et par dage. Imens deres kroppe producerede denne værdi blev de så opfordret til at tænke over arbejdstidsværdi, og hvad en fremtidig afføringsøkonomi kunne betyde for dem.

Performancen blev akkompagneret af en audiovisuel kulisse af Seoul-kollektivet: Vandaal-musik, og efter forestillingen præsenterede de musikalsk og performativ fortolkning af det at spise, drikke, skide og være menneske, på cello og klaver.

Above and Beyond the Toilet

Performance programme at MMCA, Changdong Seoul, 2024  with a lecture on the value of digestion and poop by Ulla Hvejsel, followed by a musical interpretation by Vandaal.

In this performance program I started by introducing the value of excretions with a quote by the Korean author Park Wan-Suh. She explained  how poop and pee was traded as a commodity in rural Korea, in the 1930’ies. 

This quote then became the point of departure for setting off the production of valuable pee and poop within  the bodies of the audience:  Eveyone was offered a small drink and serving, that would become pee and poop in few days time, and while their bodies produced this value, they were encouraged to think about work time -value, and what a future poop economy could mean  to them. 

The performance was accompanied by an audio visual backdrop by the Seoul collective: Vandaal music, and after the lecture performance  they presented musical and performative interpretation of eating, drinking, excreting and being human, in cello and piano.
